Rachel Garcia is originally from Reno, Nevada where she started performing, training, and competing over 16 years ago. Rachel’s education of ballet, jazz, tap, pointe, hip hop, contemporary, musical theater, and acro first began at Danscape Academy and was further finessed at Nevada Dance Academy under the direction of Diane Guest-Hoff and Ava Kerr. Every summer, Rachel takes time to further her dance training in Los Angeles, taking classes and working with choreographers in the industry. After high school, she attended Saint Mary’s College of California where she earned a B.A. in Sociology and Dance. As a member of SMC’s Spirit Team and Dance Company, Rachel was able to perform and travel while focusing on her studies of Modern and Ballet, as well as being introduced to African dance. Rachel's senior piece "Interstellar Realm" (2016), was chosen to represent SMC at the American College Dance Association for the adjudicated concert and was nominated for Jacob's Pillow 2017. Upon graduation in 2017, Rachel received the Special Honors in Choreography for "Interstellar Realm." Since graduation, Rachel has danced professionally for Prayer in Motion, INQ, Stranger Lover Dreamer, Visceral Roots, and Bliss Dance Company. Rachel has also had the pleasure of teaching around the Bay Area and choreographing for dance teams in Southern California. As a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, Rachel hopes to inspire young students with her love of dance just as she found her passion in it at a young age. Although she loves performing and traveling, Rachel is always excited to share her passion here at Ace Dance Academy and looks forwards to her time here!
