Dance Instructor | BFA in Modern Dance

Tanya Chianese grew up in Los Angeles, where she started her dance career as an apprentice with a local ballet company. She obtained a B.F.A. in Modern Dance and B.A. in Art History from the University of Oklahoma, before her professional career took her dancing across the United States and parts of China. Tanya has danced for Garrett & Moulton Productions, Paufve | Dance, Kristin Damrow & Company, Blind Tiger Society, dNaga, Clawson Dance Initiative, Sarah Bush Dance Project, Media City Ballet, and Contemporary Dance Oklahoma. Tanya was awarded a 2014 Artist-in-Residence at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, where she debuted her company ka·nei·see | collective. Ms. Chianese passionately teaches movement at Ace Dance Academy and dance schools throughout the Bay Area. In 2010 she taught ballet to visually impaired adults and children in Oklahoma City through a grant funded by Devon Energy, and in 2006 introduced dance in after school programs at low-income elementary schools in Los Angeles through a grant funded by the city. Tanya served as an administrator for the Oklahoma City Ballet, Epiphany Productions (SF Trolley Dances), dance anywhere, and Blind Tiger Society.
